The Mayor the merrier

I do like a good Range Rover Classic; and although I’ve shown other pictures of this one in Roverphile before, I’m always pleased to see more. This splendid limo, built as official transport for the Mayor of Solihull, is seen here at the NEC in Birmingham on 1 October 1984. The photographer was JD Stockwell, who has contributed several really interesting pictures to Roverphile. The Range Rover, converted by Special Vehicles, would certainly have had an imposing presence on the road – it had a 120-inch wheelbase. Anyone know what happened to it after the Mayor passed it on?…
