A series of strange indentations discovered inside an English quarry by palaeontologists are believed to be dinosaur footprints.
A site worker initially reported the “unusual bumps” on a 152-metre road in Oxfordshire, near London, which sparked a palaeontology project. It was eventually determined the path was once roamed by the prehistoric creatures during the Middle Jurassic period, an estimated 166 million years ago. The project identified over 200 footprints, with researcher, Kirsty Edgar, stating they “offer an extraordinary window into the lives of dinosaurs, revealing details about their movements, interactions, and the tropical environment they inhabited.” Scientists suspect one of the most notable dinosaurs to have lived in the area was the nine-metre-tall, three-toed carnivore, Megalosaurus.
