Survival knives. Hard-use knives. Extreme-duty knives. If you spend enough time talking or reading about edged tools, these phrases crop up. If you are like me, your mind’s-eye conjures images of fixed blade knives. Everything from military classics to large chopping tools to fantasy weapons capable of handling any situation, real or imagined.
While “romanticized” survival situations like the zombie apocalypse or foreign invaders parachuting into your hometown are unlikely to occur, traffic accidents, natural disasters and other unfortunate occasions are all too prevalent. Carrying a knife able to cope with extreme situations may mean the difference between life or death.
