Through a strange twist of fate, St. Antonio Abate (Saint Anthony the Abbot, an Egyptian monk), the patron saint of pizzaioli, smiled on me last year and introduced me to Bob Hanlon. Bob, who owns Bob’s Pizza Tour, contacted me out of the blue, suggesting a possible collaboration with Kitchen Table. But there was a problem: Kitchen Table is based on the West Coast and Bob lives and operates on the East Coast, giving pizza tours in Baltimore and Brooklyn. What could we possibly do together? Well, one animated phone call later this very piece came into focus, and here we are, providing you, dear reader, with a deliciously meaty survey of over two dozen pizzaioli.
