This illustration captures the essence of my culinary journey during the pandemic’s many phases. By then, cooking had become a recurring theme in my art, a testament to the countless meals prepared within the confines of our home.
When Covid first swept through the Bay Area, where I reside, my primary concerns were my family’s health and well-being. Gripped by the fear of infection from anything I touched, I meticulously disinfected takeout bags, donned my blue rubber gloves and surgical mask whenever I left home, and relied heavily on delivery apps. Dining out was no longer a viable option, and with limited options for food delivery, cooking at home became a frequent routine.
