GET GROWING BEAT THE HEAT It's undeniable: temperatures are ticking ever upwards, and each year seems warmer than the last. Hard science, based on solid, empirical evidence has confirmed that 2023 was the warmest year on record globally. And who can forget the searing heat of summer 2022? Not that far from me temperatures reached 38C, smashing the previous record by a full two degrees. That's a heady 100F – the sort of heat that has you cowering indoors and wishing it was winter! Meanwhile, in Lincolnshire, the mercury breached 40C/104F for the very first time in the UK. As an isolated, freak occurrence this might all be manageable.
