THE BENEFITS OF COMPETITION Freestyle is a journey that can take your kayaking to another level. You explore your capabilities and skills by diving deeper into how your body interacts with the boat and how to use the water to make moves possible. It takes practice. It takes patience. But the progress and understanding we gain are addictive. That being said, I would like to tell you how freestyle, which seems to be about free flow, translates to competition and some of the reasons paddlers compete. WHY COMPETE IF IT IS "FREESTYLE?"
