On the Alberta side of the southernmost area of the Canadian Rockies, the once popularly paddled Cameron Creek was once again descended, this time by local paddlers from Southwest British Columbia and Alberta, in early May 2021. This run was often frequented by paddlers from all over BC, Alberta, and even paddlers from the US state of Montana. However, in fall 2017, a monstrous forest fire tragically torched over 19,000 hectares of national parkland and destroyed facilities, which lead to road closures and limited access to foot or bike travel. This spring, Seán Mc Ternan, Connor Schriver, Kyle Sagz, Gregor Gray, and Allen Yip were excited to take advantage of the road opening this spring to re-open this class V classic.
