In a land that is home to over two million bodies of water, the odds of one river attracting the world's attention are slim—but the magic of Canada's Ottawa River has proven time and time again that it is capable of just that. The Rocher Fendu section of the Ottawa River has been paddled since time immemorial. These waters run through the unceded homelands and unsurrendered, traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg and Algonquin Nations. Lumber barons and log drivers used the wide, deep channels to drive their logs downstream for processing.
