The East Lyn, though lesser-known outside Great Britain, is a British classic: low volume, steep, reliable, and jaw-droppingly beautiful. The river flows eight kilometers from its source to the sea, 250 m below, where a glorious point break can be found. It passes through a stunning tree-lined gorge with the option to huck off some waterfalls on the Hoar Oak Water. It’s truly unique to find grade IV whitewater finishing in the sea that runs reliably for six months of the year. Perhaps its most unique feature, however, is that it remains a free-flowing river.
