With near drought conditions throughout much of Europe, there is one rapid Scottish paddlers can always schedule their diaries for.The Falls of Lora is a tidal ebb on Loch Etive by the West coast. About 30 paddlers turned up in a natural gathering for the flow in mid-August. While the highest flows create short freestyle-boat waves, this mid-range flow creates some longer, smoother rides. The notable trend was a rise in high-performance surf kayaks; many paddlers report buying them only for use on The Falls. Callum Strong came over from the islands with his Ride Eclipse surf kayak and demonstrated some impressive spins on the main wave.Calum Pedan styled the gnarly and unpredictable Ultimate Air Wave in his playboat with blunts and airscrews.
