The Potomac River Festival weekend kicked off on August 13th with a four-gate slalom course on the Virginia side of Great Falls. Organizer Geoff Calhoun had once again set a challenging course that highlighted some of the dynamic eddies in S-turn and reguired a clean approach. The formerly local Calhoun went first, botching the left to right move for the third gate eddy, and scrambling to get back upstream to make the fourth gate, setting the tone for the morning. Locally-based U.S. Slalom Team member Tyler Westfall took top honors in the slalom event by nearly eight seconds with a super fast clean run.The prodigal son of Harpers Ferry, Jamey Moore, crushed the moves to take second place over his mate from App State; Anand Blum.
