This past July saw the much-anticipated return of the annual Callaghan Race in beautiful Whistler, BC. Nearly 40 boaters raced down two world-class sections of Whitewater despite record high levels for the weekend. The two-day event begins Friday evening on the ultra-classic Upper Cheakamus River with a solo time trial that seeds racers for the big event the next day. Starting above the iconic 10 ft put-in falls, the racers fly down three km of some of Canada's best Class IV+ Whitewater.This year, after a two-year hiatus in his homeland of Australia, reigning champ Blake Miller was back. Sure enough, he held onto his throne, breaking the speed record and going sub-ten minutes for the first time in race history. Boaters from all over the PNW, New Zealand, and Australia…
