The Kopili River is a world-class kayak destination that is off the beaten path for many kayakers. The river is located south east of Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, in the neighboring state of Assam India. A beautiful six hour drive from Shillong will put you near a small village named 29 Kilo which is perfect for finding food, water, and nice hospitality during your stay. This past October, groups of paddlers in India for the Meghalaya Kayak Festival ventured out to the Kopili for its picturesgue blue water, powerful fluffy rapids, and easy access.
