Sarah McNair-Landry and Erik Boomer recently returned from a 71-day expedition in Sam Ford Fjord, Baffin Island, Canada. For the first 17 days, the duo skied and traveled into Sam Ford, a remote fjord on the east coast of Baffin Island best known for the world's biggest steepest big wall granite climbing routes and some of the biggest couloirs for steep skiing. They skied four mountains on the approach, the smallest being 2,500 ft and the largest, Broad Peak, 6,040 ft. After skiing and approaching, they established a big wall first ascent (5.11 A1) in Stewart Valley, culminating in three nights and four days on the 1,600 ft wall. After climbing, summer began to set in, and Sarah and Boomer launched two different 14-day kayak expeditions exploring unrun Whitewater rivers.…
