The 2022 Whitewater King of New York kayak race series hosted by the Great Falls Foundation entered its 11th year on Saturday, September 3rd.The first race in the series on the Raquette River near Colton, NY, had race organizers nervous that there would not be runnable flows for the race due to construction on the dam at the put-in for the Stone Valley section. Upon inspecting the course, they were pleasantly surprised with perfect flows on the high side of good and water spilling over the 30-foot dam, which is usually dry, creating an epic start to the Class V race.
