TURBO KAYAK RACE IN TUNGUFLJÓT, ICELAND, AUGUST 2022

Whitewater kayaking is on a sharp rise in Iceland, gaining popularity with local and international kayakers. The Turbo Kayak race was held for its second year in a row in Tungufljót, on the south coast of Iceland, on the 13th of August with great success, and the team behind the event hopes to continue it annually. Whitewater kayaking has been present in Iceland for over 40 years but is limited to a small group; the Turbo Kayak Race aims to reach audiences and inspire more individuals to practice the sport. The competition is run by volunteers from Arctic Rafting, a local rafting company, the Icelandic kayak club, and the local search and rescue.The name for the race and idea comes from the boss herself, Tinna "Túrbó," owner of Arctic Rafting.…
