TURBO KAYAK FESTIVAL IN TUNGUFLJÓT RIVER, ICELAND, AUGUST 2024

The annual Turbo Kayak Festival was held for the fourth consecutive year in the south of Iceland on the pristine Tungufljót River. Three women and ten men competed this year, from ages 15 to 51 years old. The first qualifying category was slalom. Racers made their way down a technical course on Class III rapids that ended with a drop to the finish line. Two women and eight men qualified for the finals, where two paddlers would then compete against each other, head to head. Fifteen-year-old Freyja Friðriksdóttir from Iceland and Benjamin Rowlands (GBR) took home the gold after an exciting competition.
