There is a big wall between Georgia and Russia. This 5000-meter-tall wall, known as the main Caucasus Crest, splits Europe and Asia. The glaciers of the Southern slopes of this mountain range feed the Enguri, the biggest and the hardest river in the area. There have been multiple attempts to descend this river since 1970(ish). While some parts of the river became kayaking classics, the others were hidden in the deep, inaccessible canyons and only saw a couple of groups on inflatable Soviet-style vessels. After Tomas Marnics and Mike Krutyansky paddled one of the unknown canyons of the Upper Enguri in 2023, the idea of the “Todo Enguri” project was born.
