In the past few years, the rarely-kayaked island of Madagascar has started to see more attention. This remote African landmass is a paradise for big water, but with it being so far away from many things, and the rivers involving days of travel, few paddlers get the chance to experience it. However, with beta from some previous groups, Evan Smith, Kaelin Friedenson, and David Silk decided this was the year to find out what the country had to offer for themselves. Flying into the capital of Antananarivo at the end of August, it was a three-day drive to the first river, the Mananjary.
