NEW WAVE Sophie Gilfillan has learned a lot about kayaking over her 17 years. From slalom to freestyle to river running, Sophie provides a model for other ambitious juniors to follow: hone your technical skills in slalom, dial consistency with freestyle, and strengthen your mind river running. Rotate and repeat. A Canadian slalom and freestyle team member, Sophie has National Championship wins in multiple disciplines and has represented Canada at world championships in freestyle and slalom in addition to descents on notable rivers around the world.
