Off the coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales, lies a standing wave formed by a combination of tide, swell, wind, and pressure that has changed the shape of freestyle kayaking and kayak surfing forever. Home to the first freestyle rodeo in 1991, today, the Bitches has lost none of its magic or appeal. But fair warning:While surfing the Bitches is mainly epic, it has the potential to be an epic.

Tidal Power T hey say two types of people get into trouble sea kayaking. The first type is the complete beginners. The second, Whitewater kayakers who think they know their shit. It was 5 am, and the first light was beginning to brighten the sky at St. Justinian's car park, the launching point for the Bitches, where five experienced Whitewater kayakers were doing their pre-paddle routine. After looking out to sea for a short while, Josh told us he was off back to bed, as it was too foggy to paddle out.
