River Angels

FOLLOW CONSCIOUSLY It is fairly easy to fall into the habit of following while on the river. I was guilty of this in the first years of my paddling career – and while I certainly nailed some good lines, I believe it also hindered me in learning to read the whitewater for myself. If you feel that you need to follow in order to make it safely down the river, it is time to step back and think. Are you really on the right track? When I was still an intermediate kayaker, there was a time when my friends realized that I needed to get up front.
