Ten years ago, on April 21st, 2009, Tyler Bradt successfully descended the 189-foot Palouse Falls to claim the World Record for highest waterfall run in a kayak. When Tyler emerged from the curtain, paddle held high, he redefined what we considered impossible. Yet in the wake of Bradt’s success, “What,”the biggest question seemed to be, “will come next?”. Tyler’s accomplishment, though shocking, followed on the heels of years of limit pushing. In August 1999, Tao Berman ran the 98-foot Upper Johnstone Falls in Banff National Park, beating the existing World Record by more than 30 feet.
