Mexico has a proud history of whitewater, from its people to its rivers. Some of the world's most iconic rapids and waterfalls are found here. We all can think of that drop—you know that one perfect waterfall or rapid or slide that when you close your eyes, you can see the lip, your stroke, and the landing? All kayakers dream of Mexican whitewater, or at the very least, think about it. But while some only dream, others are living it. From the mountains and jungles of Veracruz, in the whitewater hub of Jalcomulco, Christopher “Chiris” Álvarez Fonseca is the next big name in Mexican whitewater.
