The Quebrada Gata River is located in the Bajos de Toro region in Costa Rica. It is a known canyoneering section that has only been kayaked once before by a group of boaters. In November 2024, Mary Morgan and Andrew Morrissey took on the adventure to claim the second descent of the section. It had been raining most days since the duo arrived in Costa Rica, leading them to believe this section could be in as it is a very rain-dependent drainage. It was raining hard as they started the drive to Quebrada Gata, and continued to dump rain the entire day. There are no roads that lead to the put-in or take-out.
