Kayak Session

The Nile River Festival is Uganda’s biggest paddling event, drawing both local and international kayakers to the Nile’s legendary whitewater. Competitors take on three core events—an endurance race, freestyle, and boatercross—all using the same kayak, making boat choice a strategic decision. The endurance race stretches from Silverback to Superhole and is tackled in pairs, with partners required to finish within 30 seconds of each other. The freestyle competition takes place on the Superhole wave, with qualifiers on the Saturday and finals the following day after an overnight stay. Beyond the competition, the Friday’s Mass Float, led by Kayak the Nile Canoe Club, brings paddlers together for a fun group descent.
