The ninth annual Jondachi Fest was held from January 18th-22nd, 2023, in Tena, Ecuador, to promote the protection of this strategic, free-flowing Andean Amazon river corridor from poorly-conceived hydro development. The event brought together a new group of collaborators and had a very positive impact at the local level. Mark Kieran (USA) maintained his title as the winner of the men's division of the Upper Jondachi Race with a time of 5'50", followed by Wil Henkel (USA) with a time of 6'00". Ecuadorian paddlers Abe Herrera and Anthony Cozar tied for third place with a time of 6'07" for the 1.7 km-long race course.
