Eventually, the canyon opens up, and the river calms down for the last ten minutes. For the first time in my life, I am happy to see a dam. I usually don’t like dams, but at this moment, there is no better sight. It means we made it. This is the take-out. We don’t really know how to get back to the road, and we end up trespassing on Sergio’s property. Instead of getting mad at us, he helps us out and let us transform his garden into a yard sale while we wait for our friend Robert. Before we know it, Sergio is bringing us cake and maté. We are messy, hungry, beaten up, and haven’t showered in over 10 days, but Sergio doesn’t care. He still sits down…
