THE KNEE JOINT – NOT ALL CARTILAGE IS CREATED EQUAL! On all the joint surfaces in our bodies, we have cartilage which helps each joint move smoothly. In the knee, three bones comprise the joint: the femur or thigh bone, the tibia or shin bone, and the patella or knee cap. Each joint surface is covered with cartilage.
