NEW WAVE As we enter an age where environmental protection is moving closer to the forefront of the public eye, we are starting to see more extreme measures taken to reduce negative human impact on the environment. This includes the complicated task of removing dams. While work is already underway, by 2025, four dams on the Klamath River will be dismantled, the largest dam removal in US history. In recognition of the lack of opportunities for native youth in the sport of kayaking, non-profit organization Rios to Rivers teamed up with World Class Academy to launch an ambitious program: bring together native youth from Oregon and California, teach them to kayak, empower them to bring their river knowledge back to their communities, and create a team of native youth who…
