Faced with the loss of their friend only days before a long-awaited trip to Iceland, Eirik Hansen and Zack Mutton questioned whether or not they should even go. But in the spirit of adventure and living life fully, it was off to the stoutmaster's paradise. In searching to heal heavy hearts, they found an unexpected gift: A veritable map of still-unrun waterfalls.

ICELAND The Carpark On the 16th of May 2024, Bren Orton disappeared beneath the Italian whitewater of Melezza. His fatal accident came as a shock to me and the rest of the crew bound for Iceland in the following days. Martin Vonheim, Zack Mutton, David Sodomka, and I met in a sunny Norwegian carpark on the 19th of May. We hugged and contemplated whether we would travel. Kayaking in Iceland stands out as one of the stoutest, rawest, and most demanding destinations for waterfalls. I wanted to arrive strong in mind and body. At the carpark, I felt tired, anxious, and indecisive. Was it wrong to go to Iceland and have fun? Should we feel guilty for wanting to still push on? Could we even get into the right headspace…
