Lovers of North Carolina Whitewater, American Whitewater needs your help! A pending case in the Office of Administrative Hearings challenges the public's right to recreate on sections of the Boone Fork and Watauga River, located near Boone, North Carolina. Paddlers who have run these sections are encouraged to contact American Whitewater and visit the News section of the website to help document paddling use of these streams, showing that the streams in question are legally and physically navigable, regularly paddled, and thus open to the public for paddling. On June 6th, 2024, Twin Rivers Property Owners’ Association, Inc. filed a petition for a contested case hearing (a lawsuit) against the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission seeking a decision requiring the Commission to enforce fishing and wading prohibitions on the Watauga…
