South America has always been a destination for kayaking, be it for exploratory expedition paddling or just going down and ticking off the classics. While countries such as Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, and, more recently, Colombia, have all received significant attention, one country has remained relatively unexplored by kayak: the biggest country on the South American continent, Brazil. Occupying 47% of the continent, Brazil’s sheer size, dramatic topography and reliable wet seasons would seemingly pose it as a logical choice for a kayaking trip.
