A few weeks ago The Hammer Factor podcast was debating about which paddle angle to use.They came to the conclusion that a 60° paddle offset was ideal. Coming from a strong slalom background, Louis Geltman’s arguments made a lot of sense to me. But it made me think. I usually share Louis’s perspective and opinions, but at the moment I’m also paddling with a 30° offset. Is it wrong? Would my technique improve with a 60° paddle? Like most French kids I started paddling with a 90° offset, and no one ever asked which hand was my control hand. There were only 90° righty paddles at the kayak club.
