A WHAT-LIKE? The term ‘roguelikes’ comes from a game called Rogue, released in ancient times (1980). Rogue was a role playing fantasy game about exploring levels of a dungeon, and the action was turn-based. Roguelikes are a type of game with randomly created levels, where you start over again if you die. A roguelike can be almost anything – and you might also hear these types of games referred to as ‘roguelites’. CARD SLINGING In Slay the Spire, you can face off against enemies in the turn-based combat, and use a deck of cards for actions, like attacking and blocking.
