SPELLING SUBTERFUGE Ask someone to say the words that you spell. Spell ‘M-A-C-D-O-N-A-L-D’ – they’ll say ‘Macdonald’. Spell ‘M-A-C-B-R-I-D-E’ – they will say ‘Macbride’. Spell ‘M-A-C-H-I-N-E’ and the victim will most likely say ‘Mac-een’ or anything other than ‘Machine’! Don’t explain it straight away, as their confused attempts to say the word will be hilarious. GLASS GIMMICK Grab a glass and fill it with water. Find a thin piece of plastic (or cardboard), and place it on top. Flip the glass over, put it on a table, then remove the plastic. The water will stay in the glass, but taking it away without spilling water is a problem. Your victim will be scratching their head!
