BREAKING Also known as ‘breakdancing’, this sport will appear in the Olympic Games for the first time this year! Breaking is a style of dance that began in the USA in the 1970s, and is well-known from Bronx block parties and hip hop culture. It includes acrobatic movement, intricate footwork, and stylised dancing. In competition, B-Boys and B-Girls face off in individual battles, improvising to the DJ’s tracks to gain votes from nine judges. Breakers don’t know the music that will play before they compete!
