THE CREATOR Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, the Swedish game programmer who started it all, was actually inspired by a block-based game from 2009 called ‘Infiniminer’!

2009 Minecraft is born in May! The first version is for PC and called ‘Cave Game’, until the name is changed to ‘Minecraft: Order of the Stone’, and then simply, ‘Minecraft’. 2012 The first LEGO Minecraft set is released in June, coinciding with Notch’s birthday! In August, the Adventure Update brings in books, quills, and emeralds. In October, the Pretty Scary Update delivers Wither Skeletons, witches, Zombie Villagers, and useful items like the Anvil! 2013 Redstone arrives in March! As Minecraft’s equivalent of electricity, Redstone changes the game and helps turn Minecraft into more creative gameplay.
