THE LAND AND SEA

Since the first movie, Moana has been exploring the world beyond the horizon for three years. Now Moana has a little sister, she’s even more excited to go home and tell tales of her travels. The people of Motonui have never been more connected with the land and sea, and Moana feels they are back to being who they’re meant to be – epic voyagers! Unfortunately, Moana's people are in danger due to a curse, which her ancestors believed could be broken by an island hidden in a storm. An evil force has also warned Moana that following this path will definitely lead to her destruction!

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the voice of Maui, but he will also appear as Maui in the upcoming live-action Moana film, which will hit cinemas in 2026!

Moana 2 was almost a series, not a movie! Work on the show started in 2020, before eventually turning into a film!

EASTER EGGS

There are many sneaky references to Disney movies in the first Moana film, with details from Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Lilo and Stitch, Wreck-It Ralph, Aladdin, Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, Frozen, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, and Peter Pan. There’s a hidden Mickey Mouse too, and non-Disney details relating to Mario and Godzilla! Which Disney films do you spot referenced in Moana 2?

DESTINY IN MOTION

Gathering a crew of unlikely seafarers (including Maui), Moana must go to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous waters. Moana will have to follow the stars, until she reaches new skies she has never seen before. Our fave voyager is nervous to head far away from everyone she loves. However, Moana knows this is the path she needs to choose – this quest is bigger than anything she has done before, and she must find the future of her people. Will Moana be able to return to the sands of her home again one day? What lies beyond on the vast, uncharted sea?
