Il aurait pu être attiré par la mode – sa mère Susie Cave a créé la marque Vampire’s Wife – ou par la musique – il joue depuis l’enfance avec les instruments de son père Nick Cave. Mais c’est le cinéma qui a attiré Earl Cave comme un aimant. À 19 ans, il a déjà enchaîné des seconds rôles décalés dans Born to Kill et la série The End of the Fucking World où sa présence éclate au moindre plan.
