EastEnders has much to celebrate as the show marks its 40th birthday – with a huge part of that legacy owed to one of the Square’s best-loved partnerships, Kat Slater and Alfie Moon. When comedian Shane Richie was cast in the role of the Walford wideboy in 2002, the chemistry between him and co-star Jessie Wallace was instant. They went on to create a ‘will they/won’t they’ love story that left fans on tenterhooks wondering if Kat would ever find her ‘man in the moon’ – so the fact the pair are still going strong (after several wobbles!) is a major achievement… “I think we underestimated the Kat and Alfie phenomena,” reflects Shane, as he joins Inside Soap for an exclusive chat to look back on his EastEnders journey with…
