Even the tiniest hands and youngest minds help shape our built environment. Eamon (8) and Sascha (10) played an important part in the design of their home, attending site visits and discussing ideas with the team. Here they fill us in on the process – from the boredom of waiting to the excitement of hammering nails.

01 Did you enjoy watching the architect and the builder create your new home? Eamon: Yes, it was very fun because I got to see how it evolved from one thing to another. And I learnt a lot about how to build my own things. I liked seeing my room getting built and now having all my stuff in there. I liked the waiting and all the surprises. Sascha: It was very interesting but I did not enjoy it because I did not like watching my house come crashing to the ground. 02 What did you learn about building a house?
