CAROLINE MACLEAN NELSON CAROLINE died peacefully in hospital on 23 December after a brief and sudden illness. Caroline was the daughter of Daphne Alexander of Forge Stud. Her parents served in the Army and after the war, her mother ran the farm and stud. Caroline grew up with the Forge ponies, descended from Welsh, Arab and thoroughbred lines. She was very successful in the show ring, and credited the late Ronnie Booth as a close friend and huge influence. The stud stood McGredy, a thoroughbred who left his mark on his progeny.
