Since relocating from China to the UK, fashion media brand strategist Ying Qian has discovered a passion for horses, learning to ride as an adult

Growing up in Ningbo, China, I had a huge interest in horses. Sadly, at that time, riding wasn’t popular in China and I didn’t have access to horses. Nowadays, equestrian sport is becoming more trendy – Alex Hua Tian, the eventer, is an icon – but before I moved to the UK, I always had the idea of trying it here. I moved to Southampton in 2018 for my film studies master’s degree at university there. When I graduated and moved to London for work, I kept seeing people riding in Hyde Park.
