A SNAPSHOT IN TIME READING Rowland Fernyhough’s article about the vetting process being increasingly stacked against vendors (20 February) reminded me of when my father bought a six-year-old gelding in 1986. The horse duly received a less than favourable vet report, for reasons that seemed speculative rather than substantial. My father decided to take his chances, but four years later the horse was diagnosed with early stage navicular disease.
