Training techniques for zoo animals could have benefits for horses

Animal behaviour experts look at how using similar methods can set horses and owners up for success

TRAINING techniques used in zoos could have benefits in the equestrian world, as owners are urged to consider whether their horse is an active participant in what is being asked of them. “Cooperative care” was the topic of a World Horse Welfare webinar on 29 January, featuring zookeeper and equine behaviourist Barbara Dreyer, and equine behaviourist Samantha Couper.
