CRUSADERS FOR CHANGE WHAT AMFAR GALA WHEN MARCH 25, 2019 WHERE ROSEWOOD HONG KONG The Amfar gala at the newly opened Rosewood Hong Kong raised more than US$2.75 million for research into HIV/Aids. During the evening, Cathy Lee, who was honoured at last year’s gala for her HIV/Aids activism, introduced gallerist Rachel Lehmann and US singer-songwriter Pharrell Williams, who presented the Amfar Award of Courage to Adrian Cheng in recognition of his contribution to the battle against the virus. Lehmann and Williams highlighted Cheng’s charitable pursuits and his role as a change maker on the global stage. The evening’s musical entertainment included performances by Grammy-nominated songstress Nicole Scherzinger, who sang hits including Buttons and Don’t Hold Your Breath, and Chinese musician Lay Zhang, who sang his chart-topping hit Perfume.
