HONG KONG BALLET’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY HOMECOMING CELEBRATION
Hong Kong Ballet celebrated its 40th-anniversary season with a special performance at the International Gala of Stars. In homage to alumni who have contributed to its continuous success, the company gathered international ballet stars—including Dorothée Gilbert, Tan Yuan Yuan, Ako Kondo, Marcelo Gomes, Osiel Gouneo, Vitor Luiz and Matthew Golding—for two incredible performances, delighting audiences who roared back with standing ovations.
In 1979, the Hong Kong Ballet embarked on its brave venture with only five dancers. Since then, and under the leadership of nine visionary artistic directors—currently Septime Webre—the Hong Kong Ballet has grown to become one of the region’s premier companies, currently comprising nearly 50 dancers from all over the world.
