Through her award-winning Peony Brooch, Cindy Chao demonstrates her exceptional artistry and technique

In the exclusive world of high jewellery, there are few artists who have risen to such prominence as Cindy Chao. Her naturalistic designs retain an Eastern feel, while an inescapable penchant for the asymmetrical—rooted in the tradition of Asian landscape paintings—seamlessly combines the past with the present. Classical themes of fluttering butterflies, ribbons and flowers in full bloom prove timeless and universal, while unique settings and extravagant structures inject modernity into each creation. Chao developed an artistic eye during childhood. Her attention to detail is inherited from her father, a sculptor, as well as her grandfather, who was a noted Taiwanese architect.
